Miranda Bridges

President

For more than 20 years, Miranda Bridges has dedicated her service to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, beginning as Vice President before becoming President. Inspired by the community leaders who came before her, she developed a lifelong passion for service, advocacy, and community engagement. Her work advocating for individuals with disabilities has strengthened her commitment to equality, inclusion, and ensuring every voice is heard. Through her leadership with the committee, she remains committed to honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by promoting unity, empowerment, and positive change throughout the community.

Alanta Futrell

Vice President

Alanta Futrell is a devoted wife, proud mother of two, and dedicated community advocate. She joined the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee after volunteering at community events and has since served as both Fundraising Director and Vice President. Inspired by stories shared by family members who experienced segregation in the Jim Crow South, she developed a passion for education, cultural awareness, and preserving Black history. Alanta is committed to empowering minorities, promoting unity, and creating opportunities that bring people together across all backgrounds. Through her service, she strives to inspire others and help build a stronger, more connected community for future generations.

Sharese Scott

Secretary

Sherise Scott is a proud mother of four, educator, and writer who is passionate about serving and uplifting her community. She joined the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee after witnessing the positive impact the organization has made throughout Grant County. Inspired by the committee’s dedication to raising awareness and supporting often overlooked communities, Sherise was eager to become part of its mission. Through her service, she is committed to helping create meaningful change, fostering community engagement, and advancing the values of unity, education, and empowerment.

Betty Spells

Treasurer

Betty Spells is a devoted mother of three and a dedicated community servant with a passion for helping others. Her connection to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee spans more than 15 years, though she supported the organization long before becoming an official member. She currently serves as Treasurer and has previously led the committee’s fundraising efforts. Betty takes great pride in working alongside her family, including her daughter Miranda, the committee’s President, and her son Ronnie, Head of Security. Known for her caring spirit and commitment to community service, she is always willing to identify needs and help develop solutions that make a positive impact on those around her.

Shante Carter

Fundraising Director

Shaunte Carter joined the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee because of its strong commitment to promoting racial diversity, awareness, and community engagement. Inspired by the committee’s dedication to service and its efforts to advance the values championed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., she was eager to become an active member. Shaunte is passionate about fostering unity, equality, and understanding within the community and is honored to contribute to initiatives that help carry forward Dr. King's vision of justice, inclusion, and positive social change.

Ronald White

Sergeant at Arms

Ronnie White has been a proud resident of Grant County for more than 50 years and is dedicated to strengthening the community he calls home. As Sergeant at Arms for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, he is committed to fostering a welcoming and safe environment for all who participate in the organization’s events and initiatives. Ronnie joined the committee because he believes in bringing people together as one community and creating opportunities for families to connect, celebrate, and support one another. Through his service, he helps promote the values of unity, fellowship, and community pride.

Deanna Smith

Vice Treasurer

Deanna Smith is a longtime resident of Moses Lake, Washington, and a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who values family, community, and lifelong learning. Since joining New Bridge Missionary Baptist Church in 2014, she has been actively involved in supporting community events and initiatives, which led her to become a member of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee. Serving as Vice Treasurer, Deanna is committed to expanding her understanding of civil rights history and promoting meaningful conversations about equality, inclusion, and social justice. She is passionate about helping educate future generations and ensuring that the values of respect, unity, and understanding continue to be shared within her family and community.
