The Charlie's Scholar Award
The Charlie's Scholar Award was established in memory of Charlie Jones, founder and longtime President of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee.
For many years, Charlie dedicated his life to serving others, strengthening the community, and carrying forward the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Through his leadership, passion, and commitment to community engagement, he inspired countless individuals to become active participants in creating positive change.
Charlie believed that education creates opportunities, transforms lives, and strengthens communities. He was especially passionate about community colleges and the important role they play in helping students achieve their educational and career goals.
In honor of his life, legacy, and unwavering commitment to service, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee proudly awards the Charlie's Scholar Scholarship each year to support students pursuing higher education through a community college.
